The ICCD Fundraising Committee is dedicated to supporting the long‑term sustainability, growth, and service mission of the Islamic Community Center of Des Plaines (ICCD). Through strategic, ethical, and transparent fundraising, we strive to ensure that our masjid and community programs continue to flourish for generations to come, insha’Allah.


Our mission

The mission of the ICCD Fundraising Committee is to:

  • Support ICCD’s vision: Secure the financial resources needed to maintain and enhance ICCD’s religious, educational, and community services.
  • Promote sustainable giving: Encourage a culture of consistent sadaqah, zakat‑eligible support, and long‑term endowments (waqf).
  • Uphold trust and transparency: Ensure that all fundraising activities reflect the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and Islamic ethics.

Committee leadership

The ICCD Fundraising Committee is led by:

  • Chairperson: Brother Radwan Chanawani

Brother Radwan brings over five years of experience in international fundraising and relief work, serving diverse communities and contributing to impactful humanitarian efforts. He also has extensive experience in marketing, strategic outreach, and organizing large‑scale conventions, enabling him to lead our fundraising efforts with professionalism, creativity, and vision.

Under his leadership, the committee will focus on:

  • Strategic campaigns aligned with ICCD’s priorities
  • Community engagement that invites every member to participate at their capacity
  • Clear communication about goals, progress, and impact

What the fundraising committee does

The ICCD Fundraising Committee:

  • Plans and executes campaigns:
    Ramadan drives, special projects, capital campaigns, and emergency relief efforts in coordination with ICCD leadership.

  • Builds donor relationships:
    Engages individuals, families, and businesses who wish to support ICCD’s mission through regular giving, sponsorships, and partnerships.

  • Organizes events and programs:
    Dinners, community gatherings, online campaigns, and conventions to raise funds and awareness for ICCD’s projects.

  • Ensures transparency and reporting:
    Works with ICCD’s board and finance team to communicate how funds are used and share impact updates with the community.

  • Promotes a culture of generosity:
    Encourages youth, families, and elders alike to see giving as an act of worship and a means of strengthening our community.


Current priorities

The committee’s work may include supporting:

  • Masjid operations and maintenance
  • Educational programs and Qur’an classes
  • Youth development and mentorship initiatives
  • Community outreach and social services
  • Facility improvements and future expansion projects
