We are honored to welcome you to the Islamic Community Center of Des Plaines (ICCD). At ICCD, we strive to create a warm, inclusive environment where newcomers and reverts can feel at home as quickly as possible. We understand that joining a new community—or embracing a new faith—comes with unique challenges, and we are here to support you every step of the way.

ICCD Ansaar (Helpers) Program

The Ansaar Program is designed to provide meaningful support, mentorship, and companionship for:

• Individuals and families newly joining the ICCD community
• Reverts to Islam who reside in or are moving to the Des Plaines area

This program follows the beautiful Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who established the bond of muhajiroon and ansaar in Madinah—an example of unity, compassion, and community strength that we strive to emulate.

🤝 Support for Newcomers & Reverts

Our Ansaar volunteers are committed to helping you feel welcomed and supported. Their responsibilities include:

Community Welcome

• Preparing a brief introduction about you (and your family, if applicable) for the weekly e‑newsletter
• Introducing you to the community after Isha prayer or during Family Night
• Providing a welcome gift bag

Practical Support

• Information about local housing and apartment options
• Guidance on nearby schools, including Islamic and public schools
• Introductions to other families within the community
• Transportation assistance when needed
• General support to help you settle in

Note: All religious questions are referred to the Imam.

📘 Additional Support for Reverts

For reverts to Islam, the Ansaar team also provides foundational religious guidance, including:

• Basic instruction on how to pray
• Help with reading the Qur’an
• Access to beginner‑friendly Islamic literature and resources

Any questions beyond the mentor’s knowledge will be directed to the Imam to ensure proper guidance.
