🤝 Outreach Committee

Islamic Community Center of Des Plaines (ICCD)

🌟 Our Mission

The Outreach Committee is committed to fostering understanding, compassion, and collaboration between ICCD and the broader community. We serve as ambassadors of Islam—sharing its true message through education, service, and meaningful engagement with people of all backgrounds.

🛠 What We Do

Our committee leads initiatives that promote dialogue, unity, and public awareness:

  • Interfaith Engagement: Hosting open houses, mosque tours, and joint events with churches, synagogues, and civic groups.
  • Public Education: Offering Islam 101 presentations, lectures, and informational materials to dispel misconceptions and promote mutual respect.
  • New Muslim Support: Welcoming converts with mentorship, basic Islamic education, and social integration assistance.
  • Community Service: Organizing humanitarian drives, Feed the Hungry programs, and prison outreach efforts.
  • Media & Communications: Representing ICCD in public forums and sharing our message through newsletters, social media, and local press.
  • Civic Partnerships: Collaborating with city officials, schools, and nonprofits to advance shared values and community well-being.

💡 Why It Matters

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Make things easy, not difficult; bring people together, not drive them apart.” (Sahih Bukhari)

Outreach is not just a program—it’s a prophetic responsibility. By engaging with others sincerely and respectfully, we reflect the beauty of Islam and build trust across communities.
