🎉 Special Events Committee

Islamic Community Center of Des Plaines (ICCD)

🌟 Our Mission

The Special Events Committee is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing ICCD’s major gatherings and celebrations. From Jumu’ah logistics to Ramadan programs and community festivals, we ensure that every event reflects the beauty of our faith, the warmth of our community, and the excellence of our organizational standards.

🛠 What We Do

Our committee plays a vital role in:

  • Event Planning & Coordination: Managing logistics for Friday prayers, Eid celebrations, Ramadan iftars, and other high-attendance events.
  • Security & Traffic Flow: Coordinating with volunteers and local authorities to ensure safe and efficient movement during large gatherings.
  • Facility Preparation: Setting up prayer areas, dining spaces, and activity zones with care and professionalism.
  • Volunteer Mobilization: Recruiting and organizing teams to support setup, hospitality, and cleanup.
  • Community Engagement: Creating welcoming experiences that foster unity, joy, and spiritual connection.
  • Special Arrangements: Overseeing unique programs such as guest speaker visits, fundraising dinners, and interfaith receptions.

💡 Why It Matters

Events are more than logistics—they are moments of spiritual renewal, social bonding, and communal pride. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“He who does not thank the people is not thankful to Allah.” (Abu Dawood)

Through thoughtful planning and heartfelt service, the Special Events Committee helps ICCD honor its guests, uplift its members, and fulfill its mission with ihsan (excellence).
