🧠 Youth Committee

Islamic Community Center of Des Plaines (ICCD)

🌟 Our Mission

The Youth Committee exists to cultivate spiritually grounded, socially responsible, and confident Muslim youth. We provide a safe, welcoming space where young people can explore their faith, build meaningful relationships, and grow into leaders who embody the values of the Qur’an and Sunnah.

🎯 Our Role

We serve as a bridge between ICCD’s leadership and its youth, ensuring that young voices are heard, supported, and empowered. Our committee:

  • Designs Youth-Centered Programs: From halaqas and mentorship circles to sports nights and service projects.
  • Promotes Identity & Belonging: Helping youth navigate their Muslim-American identity with pride and clarity.
  • Fosters Leadership: Offering opportunities for youth to lead initiatives, organize events, and represent ICCD in civic and interfaith spaces.
  • Supports Mental & Emotional Wellness: Creating safe spaces for dialogue, mentorship, and peer support.
  • Connects Generations: Encouraging intergenerational understanding and collaboration within the masjid.

💡 Why It Matters

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Take advantage of five before five: your youth before your old age…” (Hadith, Al-Hakim)

Youth are not just the future—they are the present. Their energy, creativity, and sincerity are essential to ICCD’s vitality. By investing in them, we strengthen our community’s spiritual resilience and social impact.
