What Really Happened with the Chase Bank Account Freeze
Dear ICCD Community,
Assalamu Alaikum,
I want to explain clearly what led to the freezing of ICCD’s Chase Bank account. There have been rumors and confusion, and it’s time the truth is known.
This issue was not caused by any wrongdoing on my part. It was the result of a deliberate and dishonest scheme led by Mr. Fazal Mahmoud, a former ICCD official who served as president for over 10 years without delivering any real progress. When the new board began working effectively, he tried to stop it from succeeding.
Behind the scenes, Mr. Fazal worked to divide the board into two opposing sides, influencing four members and creating conflict. When his behavior was exposed, I gave him several warnings to stop. Instead of listening, he illegally called a board meeting to remove me as president, even though he had no authority to do so. According to ICCD bylaws, only the secretary or a current board member can call a meeting — not an ex-official.
That meeting was invalid. Five board members were absent, including myself, the vice president, the secretary, the treasurer, and a director — meaning there was no quorum to make any decisions.
During that private meeting, Mr. Fazal falsely accused me of “doing business at the masjid.” He was referring to an emergency water damage incident that happened while I was out of the country on Umrah trip and later for my daughter’s wedding in Jordan. While I was gone, a major leak at ICCD damaged three floors of the building. ICCD leadership in my absence called my company for emergency restoration. My staff responded immediately and began repairs — all without my knowledge at the time.
Despite this, Mr. Fazal lied, accusing me of causing the damage and using it for personal gain — a completely false and malicious claim. He then convinced a group of board members to create a fake resolution to remove both me and the secretary, Fareed Hassan (who now supports him!!), and replace us with Ghulam Farooqi as president and Junaid Muqeet as secretary. Later on after the meeting they visited Mr. Farooqi at his resident and forced him to sign and made him record a video to read a resolution against his will. “Watch the video”
Mr. Fazal then falsified ICCD’s records with the Illinois Secretary of State, listing the new names. He told the group to take those documents to Chase Bank and remove me from the account.
The next day, while I was working at the masjid, I tried to log in to pay utility bills — but my access was blocked. When I called the bank, they said I had been removed based on documents claiming I was no longer president. Once the bank realized this was done without my knowledge or approval, they froze the account to protect the funds and avoid liability.
And to proof that Mr. Fazal was the master mind behind this wicked action, At the time the bank froze the accounts, the total balance across all ICCD Chase accounts was close to $800,000. But on the same day the hijacking occurred, $380,000 was withdrawn from the account by the hijackers — leaving only about $500,000 frozen. This is why Mr. Fazal now claims only $500,000 was frozen — because he and his group had already taken $380,000, and that is proof he was the mastermind behind this wicked act.
We have taken every step to protect your donations, restore proper governance, and expose these unethical actions. The bank basic request to unfreeze the account is to have a document signed by all 9 elected board members to authorize only active president and treasurer name only on the account, but they refuse to sign for 2 years holding the steak holders donation as a hostage to pursue their wicked personal agenda. The last day to submit this document is Monday 11/17/2025
We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and serving this community with integrity.
If you have questions or concerns, please speak with us directly. We will continue to stand for truth and protect our masjid from harm.
With sincerity,
Imad
