Building the Future of ICCD

The Legacy Committee is a distinguished group of dedicated supporters whose generosity, vision, and commitment have played a significant role in the growth and success of the Islamic Community Center of Des Plaines (ICCD).

Comprised of ICCD’s leading donors and benefactors, the Legacy Committee serves as a strategic advisory and support body that helps advance major initiatives, capital projects, facility expansion, and long-term community development efforts.

Mission

The mission of the Legacy Committee is to:

Support the long-term growth and sustainability of ICCD.
Help identify and fund major community initiatives and capital projects.
Preserve and strengthen the legacy of Islamic service for future generations.
Provide guidance and support for strategic planning and organizational development.
Encourage philanthropy, charitable giving, and community investment.
Promote unity, transparency, accountability, and the best interests of the ICCD community.

Membership

Membership in the Legacy Committee is by invitation and is reserved for individuals and families who have demonstrated exceptional financial support and commitment to ICCD’s mission and future.

Members are recognized as key partners in helping ICCD:

Expand its facilities and services.
Acquire and develop community assets.
Strengthen educational, religious, and social programs.
Ensure long-term financial stability and sustainability.
Preserve the values and vision upon which ICCD was built.

Role of the Legacy Committee

The Legacy Committee works collaboratively with the ICCD Board of Directors and leadership to:

Provide feedback and guidance on major projects and initiatives.
Support fundraising and capital campaigns.
Assist with community outreach and donor engagement.
Help secure resources necessary for future growth.
Foster a culture of generosity and service within the community.
Offer experience-based recommendations on matters affecting the long-term interests of ICCD.

Advisory, Arbitration, and Community Oversight

As a body composed of ICCD’s most committed supporters and stakeholders, the Legacy Committee serves as an independent advisory resource dedicated to preserving the organization’s mission, unity, and long-term success.

The committee may:

Facilitate dialogue and reconciliation when disputes arise among boards, committees, officers, or leadership groups.
Serve as a respected arbitration body when requested by the parties involved.
Provide non-binding recommendations to help resolve conflicts fairly and constructively.
Promote transparency, accountability, and adherence to ICCD’s mission and governing principles.
Act as a community watchdog by helping ensure that major decisions align with the long-term interests of ICCD and its members.
Help preserve organizational stability, unity, and continuity during periods of challenge or transition.
Safeguard the investments, contributions, and trust that donors and members have placed in ICCD.

The Legacy Committee’s role is advisory and supportive in nature, helping strengthen collaboration, trust, and good governance throughout the organization.

Vitue and Reward of Supporting the House of Allah

Supporting, building, maintaining, and sustaining the House of Allah is among the greatest acts of charity and ongoing reward (Sadaqah Jariyah).

Allah (SWT) says:

“The mosques of Allah shall be maintained only by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish prayer, give zakah, and fear none but Allah. It is they who are expected to be rightly guided.”
(Qur’an 9:18)

Allah (SWT) also says:

“Whatever good you spend is for yourselves, and whatever you spend seeking the pleasure of Allah will be repaid to you in full, and you will not be wronged.”
(Qur’an 2:272)

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)

He ﷺ also said:

“When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.”
(Sahih Muslim)

By supporting ICCD and its growth, Legacy Committee members participate in preserving a place where prayers are offered, children learn Islam, families gather, and generations of Muslims strengthen their faith. The rewards of these efforts continue, by the permission of Allah, long after one’s lifetime.

A Special Du’a

اللهم اجعل كل من ساهم في بناء ودعم ورعاية بيتك الكريم من أهل الخير والبركة، وبارك له في ماله وأهله وذريته، واجعل ما قدمه في ميزان حسناته، وابنِ له بيتًا في الجنة، واغفر له ولوالديه ولجميع المسلمين، وتقبل منه صالح الأعمال إنك أنت السميع العليم.

Translation:

O Allah, make everyone who contributes to building, supporting, and caring for Your House among the people of goodness and blessing. Bless their wealth, families, and descendants. Make their contributions heavy on the scale of good deeds, build for them a home in Paradise, forgive them and their parents and all Muslims, and accept their righteous deeds. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
